Using On-Ground Representation in Nigeria Effectively

How diaspora clients can define inspections, supervision, document collection and physical follow-up assignments so the outcome is clear and evidence-based.

01

Define the assignment precisely

State what must be done, where it must happen, the deadline and the result you expect. 'Please go there and check' is difficult to audit; a precise assignment creates a clear completion standard.

02

Confirm access and authority

Some tasks require an appointment, authorization, identification or permission from another party. These requirements should be identified before a representative is sent to the location.

03

Agree the evidence standard

Define whether the client needs photographs, video, signed acknowledgement, document copies, names of people met, timestamps or a written report. Evidence requirements should match the purpose of the assignment.

04

Separate observation from verification

A representative can report what was physically observed, but observation does not automatically prove title, legal validity, financial status or another fact requiring a specialist or authoritative source.

05

Escalate unexpected issues

The representative should know what requires immediate client approval rather than improvising. Unexpected costs, changed instructions or requests for sensitive documents should be escalated through the agreed channel.

06

Close with a documented outcome

A completed assignment should record what was done, the evidence obtained, anything that could not be completed and the recommended next action.
